ICEserver is a Mac-based, software application that processes PDF files before imaging on a CTP, inkjet orcolor controller RIP. Through a revolutionary development in CMYK separation technology, ICEserver matches and optimizes the separations based on the characteristics of the printed paper, media or substrate and its interaction with ink or toner. This is known as a Media Map Model, or “M3”.
Using the M3 and its internal knowledge of proper CMYK ink distribution, ICE can understand how a given file will best print on a selected paper stock. ICE then creates a CMYK separation that is optimized for the press. The result is an increase of 20% in gamut in saturated colors, extended dynamic range, better detail and increased contrast in images. “ICEd” files positively impact on-press performance with faster start-up, less waste, improved print stability, and reduced problems such as back-trapping. All of this is accompanied by a 25% average reduction in ink use. ICE integrates with existing workflows, existing ink sets and existing print standards.
ICEserver increases the visual appeal of print while decreasing its manufacturing costs and applies to lithographic, wide format and digital printing.
